Privacy Notice

This is a plain account of what harastanigroup.com does with information about the people who visit it. It is short because the site does little: it carries a contact form and a newsletter sign-up, it counts visits, and it remembers the language you chose.

01

Who we are

Harastani Group is a Syrian import and trading house. We have traded since 2010 in construction equipment, infrastructure equipment, electrical and power devices, and batteries. Our head office is at Block 4, Sector C, Adra Industrial City, Damascus, Syria.

This notice explains what happens to information you give us, or that is collected automatically, when you use harastanigroup.com. It covers this website only.

02

What we collect and why

The contact form. When you write to us through the form we receive your name, your company if you enter one, your email address, your telephone number if you enter one, the division you selected, and your message. We use it only to read your enquiry and answer it.

The newsletter. If you sign up for our newsletter on the English pages, we receive your email address and record when you signed up and when you confirmed. Nothing is sent until you click the link in our confirmation email and confirm. We use the address only to send you Harastani Group news. We count how many people open each newsletter and click its links in total, not who did.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-FWNKXP17TD) to understand how the site is used. It sets cookies and collects the pages you view, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and your device and browser. It is operated by Google.

Server logs. The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes request logs including IP addresses as a normal part of serving pages. Separately, a cookie named NEXT_LOCALE stores the language you chose, and nothing else.

03

The legal basis

We handle the contact form because you chose to write to us and because we need what you sent in order to reply and take the steps you asked for. Answering the people who approach us is also the ordinary commercial interest of a trading house.

The newsletter rests on your consent: you tick the box, then confirm by email. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter.

Analytics serves our own interest in understanding how the site performs, and you can refuse or clear its cookies in your browser at any time. Server logs are technically necessary to run the site securely. The NEXT_LOCALE cookie is functional: without it the site cannot remember your language.

04

Who the data is shared with

We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising. Five companies process it on our behalf, simply because they run the parts of the site that need them.

Our own mail server (MailHub), on a server we rent from netcup in Germany, delivers the contact form to our office as an email. Cloudflare (cloudflare.com) runs the security check on the contact form and the newsletter sign-up, which looks at your browser and connection to tell a person from automated spam. Google operates Google Analytics and receives the usage data described above. Vercel hosts the site and holds the server logs. The newsletter list is kept in software we run ourselves (Listmonk) on that same server, which also serves the confirmation and unsubscribe pages at lists.harastanigroup.com. Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) delivers the newsletter emails. All five are outside Syria, so the data passes through their servers abroad.

Beyond these, we disclose nothing to anyone, except where a competent authority requires it of us by law.

05

How long it is kept

Enquiries reach us as email and stay as email. We keep them for as long as we need them to answer you, and afterwards as part of ordinary business record-keeping, the way any trading house keeps its correspondence. There is no database behind the form and no customer file built from it.

Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe. The link at the bottom of every newsletter takes you off at once, and the page it opens also lets you download or delete what the list holds about you. An address that is never confirmed receives no newsletter.

If you would rather we did not keep your message, tell us through the contact form or by telephone, and we will delete it. Analytics data is retained by Google on its own schedule, and Vercel's server logs are held for a short period as part of running the platform.

06

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, or ask us to delete it. You can also object to our using it and ask us to stop.

Send the request through the contact form, or call +963 936 964 077. We handle these requests ourselves, in Arabic or English, and there is no charge. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, so that we do not send one person's information to another.

Analytics is easier to settle at your end: Google publishes a browser add-on that turns the collection off, and blocking or clearing cookies stops it too.

07

Cookies

Two kinds of cookie are set on this site. NEXT_LOCALE remembers the language you picked; it is strictly functional and holds nothing else. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure visits.

Both are under your browser's control. You can block them, delete them, or browse privately. The site works without them, except that it will not remember your language between visits.

08

How to contact us about data

Use the contact form, call +963 936 964 077, or reach us at Block 4, Sector C, Adra Industrial City, Damascus, Syria. Start your message with the word “privacy” and it will get to the right person faster.

If we have handled something badly, tell us first. Most of these matters are settled in one exchange of emails.

09

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when what we do changes. The date at the top always tells you which version you are reading. We do not send notices about changes to this page. If this notice matters to you, check the date on your next visit.
